Meanless & Breathless is the first CD-R EP by Berlin duo NewVember. A 5 track CD of electronic-pop music, and I definitely emphasize "pop". And to be honest its too pop for me, in general I am not totally against the idea of pop - but I do prefer that it has some sort of quirky side to it.

Which isn't to say its bad, I don't have a good enough frame of reference to make that call - but it seems reasonable electro music. I suspect very much influenced by 80's electro with a more modern drum programming and structure. But as I say, not having that kind of background I can't really place that in anyway. The vocals are male, strong and clean, held well with effective backing - which I guess if I'm going to listen to vocal based music at all is fair enough.

I guess acknowledging the current pop environment I have to reflect that this would not really be classed as pop. While perhaps not the most original in sound it does come across as reasonably intelligent and mature - which is refreshing compared to much of the vocal driven electro cheese which has seriously put me off vocal/lyricists over the years. I know some people that could probably really appreciate NewVember's work, but its not my kind of thing, though listening to it as I write I concede a certain catchiness.
